Mindanao Benedictines and Cistercians Convention

Project 3546: Meeting of MBCC Communities


 

The Mindanao Benedictines and Cistercians Convention (MBCC) is a gathering of all Benedictine and Cistercian communities in the island of Mindanao.

There are nine communities that are currently members of this gathering:

1. The Trappist monks of Guimaras, Iloilo City.

2. The Trappistine nuns of Polomolok, General Santos City.

3. The Benedictine Nuns of the Eucharistic King, Cogon-Digos City.

4. The Benedictine Sisters of the Eucharistic King, Ulas, Davao City.

5. The Benedictine monks of St. Ottilien, Digos City.

6. The Benedictine monks of Malaybalay, Subiaco congregation, Bukidnon City.

7. The Benedictine missionary sisters of Tutzing (Mati and Marihatag).

8. The Benedictine nuns of Mother of the Church, Malaybalay, Bukidnon.

9. The Benedictine nuns of Sainte-Anne, Linamon.

The members meet each year for guest lectures, to discuss monastic life and offer suggestions to help in the situation of poverty, powerlessness, economic and political instability in Philippine society and in the Church. Whenever possible, they make cultural visits to the area around the meeting place.

 

Request

During the COVID-19 pandemic, MBCC members were only able to meet digitally. They were able to meet again  only at the Digos monastery in 2023, where they shared their experiences and difficulties linked to the pandemic.

The next meeting of the MBCC will take place from 22 to 25 July 2024. Financial support will be needed to cover the costs of the meeting.


 Financial assistance requested: 1,455 euros.
