Awka/Anambra (Nigeria)

Development of a new henhouse

Project 3119 – Construction of a new chicken coop

Benedictine nuns of Awka/Anambra (Nigeria)

The monastery of Anambra was founded by the monastery of Nike (Enugu) in 2004. The community is made up of twenty-two sisters, including seven in temporary vows and two novices.

The sisters support themselves by working on the farm: chicken coop, piggery and plantations. The sisters also produce palm nut oil.

Request

The community’s main source of income comes from the henhouse. To meet the growing demand from the population, the sisters need to develop this business. To do this, they are building a new henhouse to house 2,000 birds. Financial assistance would be needed to fit out the building: cages, drinking troughs, feeders, etc.
