Nike (Nigeria) [November 2024]
Acquisition of agricultural tools
Project 3587 - Monastery of Nike (Enugu, Nigeria)
Acquisition of agricultural tools
The Nike Monastery (OSB) was founded in 1974 by Mother Charles Anyanwu. The community comprises around thirty sisters and young people in formation. The sisters have founded several monasteries in Nigeria.
The community is partially self-sufficient (agriculture, animal husbandry, altar bread making, sewing workshop, etc.) and depends on local benefactors. The sisters support the local population by providing a listening and teaching service, as well as through donations of clothing.
The sisters grow manioc, yams, cereals, etc., and rear poultry on a small scale. They developed rice growing in 2023 for their own food and to help the poor population in the surrounding area.

The production the community get in using manual is not sustaining them. So through this project they aim to buy tools: Tilling machine, planting machine, maize Sheller and chemical sprayer.
