Burkina Faso - Monastery of Koubri, OSB

Project 3550 - Civil engineering studies for one monk

The Koubri monastery was founded by the Toumliline monastery (French foundation, Morocco) in 1963. The community comprises around twenty monks of three nationalities: Burkina Faso, Mali and Chad.

The monks farm citrus fruits and raise livestock. They are also involved in the economic and social development of the region. Since their arrival, the community has built 120 dams, enabling the local population to develop farms, fields, gardens and orchards. A primary school has been built near the monastery, and a secondary school and administrative building are nearing completion.
