Project 3572: Monastic Formation Course for two Monks



The monastery was founded in 1996 by Father Christian Collart, monk of Mont-César (Belgium); it is part of the Benedictine congregation Subiaco-Monta Cassino and was elevated to the rank of conventual priory in 2010. The community is particularly attached to oriental spirituality, notably through the veneration of icons.

The community includes eleven permanently committed brothers, two brothers with temporary vows and two novices. The brothers make liturgical vestments, write icons.

Brother Basilio and Brother Gregorio will participate in the Monastic Formation Course CFM), offered by the Cistercian order, which will take place in Rome from August 26 to September 21, 2024 (second year).

The Monastic Formation Course is under the patronage of the Pontifical Academy of Saint Anselm (Rome). The CFM will last three periods of five weeks in three consecutive years, from the end of August to the end of September. The CFM is devoted to the study of monastic sources and tradition, patristic and liturgical knowledge, knowledge of spirituality specific to the monastic ideal and cultural heritage, contact with the human sciences, and above all a solid knowledge of Sacred Scripture and monastic theology. A number of cultural and spiritual visits enrich intellectual training.

Financial assistance would be necessary for travel, registration and accommodation costs.


Financial support requested: 5,000 euros.
