Lubudi (RDC)
Solar panels installation
Project 3463 – Solar panels installation
Monastery of Lubudi (DRC)
The Annunciation priory was founded by the Lubumbashi - Saint-Sauveur community, itself founded by the Belgian community of Loppem. It is part of the Queen of Apostles congregation. The sisters have an apostolate to the neighboring population, including a hospice for the elderly. The priory is still dependent on the Lubumbashi community.
Request
The Lubudi monastery is more than 360 km from a major city, and power cuts are frequent, causing a number of problems: refrigerator breakdowns, lost food, appliances out of order, no light at night, etc. The sisters decided to install a solar power system that would provide a stable supply of electricity for all their buildings, including the hospice for the elderly that they look after near the monastery.
The sisters have decided to set up a solar power system to provide a stable supply of electricity for all their buildings, including the hospice for the elderly near the monastery. The installation will consist of 20 solar panels, 4 batteries and 2 inverters. Financial assistance will be needed to cover the installation costs.
Financial assistance: 28 000 euros
