Three of the Benedictine Nuns of Presentation Monastery at Idah were kidnapped by these muslim extremist/gun men.

The report we received from the sisters was that 5 of these Fulani gun men carrying the AK 45 assault rifles attacked the monastey just after Compline on Monday with heavy gun fire and rounded the sisters up. The villagers who heard of the gun shots came to help the sisters but they ran for their own lives when they saw the rage with which the gun men were shooting. At the end they selected from the group four amoung the younger sisters- since they knew they are going in for a long long treck into the deep forest. On the way they released one of the sisters and made away with three. Since then the police, the army and the local vigilante and different groups of volunteers have been searching for the sisters with no success so far.

These are their names: Sr Dominica Okoye, Sr Veronica Umeh and Sr Martha Ofoeke.

Please keep them in your prayers and do ask other communities to join us in praying for their safety and release.

Fr Peter (Ewu-Esan, Nigeria)
