The EMLA, Latin American Monastic Meeting, will hold its next meeting from November 3 to 10 in Salvador de Bahia (Brazil). This meeting takes place every four years in different South American countries. About 100 participants representing different regions of South America through local monastic associations (ABECCA, SURCO, CIMBRA) will be welcomed by the Brazilian Monastic Exchanges Conference (CIMBRA). The conferences and workshops will focus on fraternity: “Fraternal communities for a fraternal world,” “Foundations of fraternal life in the Rule of St. Benedict,” “Communities as places of formation in fraternity,” “Monastic life, hope for the Church and for the world.” Father Bernard Lorent Tayart, president of AIM, will participate in this meeting.
It is important for communities to come together in gatherings such as this: exchanges and interpersonal encounters allow for the development of fraternity, mutual aid, and mutual understanding, but also for mutual enrichment on topics that concern all communities.
