The monastery was founded in Curitiba by the monastery of Our Lady of Bethany (Bruges, Belgium) in 1965, it was transferred to Mandirituba in 1999. The community is part of the congregation Queen of Apostles. It includes twelve nuns.
In 1989, the monastery founded the community of Agua Viva, in the Amazon.
